THE PROBLEM

Following a visit from the Environmental Agency Oil Salvage Limited were required to improve the containment levels of a number of existing bunds at their premises in Lyster Drive, Bootle, Liverpool.

Resitech were requested to offer proposal and costs for lining the external walls of 3No Bunds.

The walls were constructed of brick and block masonry, and the brief to Resitech was to provide sound, liquid containing structures with oil, fuel and diesel resistant linings.

THE SOLUTION

Resitech following discussions with NCC proposed the Sika Bund Lining System which has a proven history in this type of environment. The system is based on

1. Preparation of the existing structure

2. Application of Sikatop 107 (waterproof cementitous slurry coat)

3. Application of Sikafloor 161 (epoxy primer)

4. Application of Sikafloor 400N (Polyurethane highly elastic coating

5. Application of Sikadur Combiflex (High performance Joint and crack sealing system)

The specification, proposal and costs were accepted by the client and work commenced at the end of May to areas totalling 250m2.

Despite difficult working conditions and a plant that was to remain operational throughout the works Resitech were able to complete the works in 4 weeks to the satisfaction of the client and the Environmental Agency.
